Winter Weather

November is here. It's been cooler days and even colder nights from just a couple weeks ago. The Winter weather can be beautiful, but dangerous. When enough snow falls on the ground and sticks, it can make things very perilous, the roads get very slippery. When the Weather Channel or AccuWeather predicts harsh winter storms, don't assume it's not going to be that bad. Stock up on groceries and get ready to miss school or work, only go out on the road if it is completely necessary! We also recommend that you do not call for food delivery even if the business with drivers, just because a pizza shop is open doesn't mean the upper management is aware of what's going in that area, sending a delivery driver out onto icy, slippery roads endangers their life as much as it would endanger your own life to go out there, and 4 out of 5 drivers will tell you it's one of the few times it would not be worth the tip.

To prevent cold air from getting in your house, make sure your house is properly insulated and has good vinyl windows, they block cold air in the winter just as they would block hot air in the summer. We recommend Simonton for being innovators in vinyl windows and doors, and we recommend replacing wood frame windows with Simonton vinyl before it gets too bad.

Have you had a hail storm come through your neighborhood? Sometimes the damage hail causes a roof isn't always visible or causing the interior of your home problems until six months after the hail storm. Snow is one the biggest exposers of damaged asphalt shingles, the moisture hangs onto the roof longer than rain, washing more granules off the roof. if interior problems happen around this time, take the proper precautions of placing a bucket over any leaks and call us when the roof is dry, a roof wet roof is too slippery to climb on.

If you decide not turn on the heat for whatever reason, leave a water source dripping in your house, a tub or a sink, especially in 25 degree weather, if water is flowing or warm enough, it will freeze and bust the pipes resulting in a lot of property damage and a lengthy water remediation job. You would be looking at least two to four week hotel bill as well, because gray water, black water, mold, and mildew can make your home unlivable until it is dried up and restored.

Don't take chances this weather, take all the right precautions for you and your family to be safe. If you have start to have problems with your home, call us at 1-844-573-7867 to fix it for you. You can also go to www.8445restore.com.

Simonton Windows

There are several reasons to replace your windows with Simonton energy efficient windows.

They reduce your heating and cooling costs, with single pane windows, 30 percent of heating and cooling energy go literally go the window.

They block the sun's Ultraviolet rays with low E glass, keeping your furniture and carpet from fading.

They give your home a more comfortable feel and are less drafty than single pane windows that let enough air in to blow the curtains around, even when the window is closed.

Vinyl windows are resistant to dirt and pollution, and never need to be painted, saving you time and money in maintenance.

The double pane reduces external noise transmission giving you a quieter home.

The double pane window is more durable allowing it to stand up better against extreme weather and home invasions.

They enhance the beauty, value, and “curb appeal” of your home.

Simonton windows are the only windows we use and recommend for your home. Established in 1946 and innovators in vinyl doors and windows since the early 1980s, Simonton continues to be recognized through the many industry awards they have won throughout the years. Check them out at their website www.simonton.com/.

Off The Roof Friday: Epic Fail

That's not something you want to have happen on air. Now they wanted to say it was because the floor was slippery. If the floor was slippery, why were you using that area demonstrate the product in the first place. You always need secure footing before beginning a climb on a ladder. Now what I saw was the poor guy lost his footing. This is why you need to be careful at all times of where you are on a ladder, step up and down one rung at a time and make sure both feet are on ladder if you're working stationary on the ladder. As funny as this is in hindsight, I'm sure no one including the guy who fell off the ladder or the makers of the commercial found it funny. They were advertising a product which legitimately a good product. One of our specialist uses of these telescope ladders and they are incredibly and go anywhere. Unfortunately, this commercial does not do the ladder justice, because when used correctly and safety, it can be an awesome tool. Ladders in general are great tools but they are not toys and shouldn't be played with or handled improperly.

Well, it doesn't get any worse than this. How did he get up there in the first place? He's trying to get down on a step ladder gripping the edge of the roof. This was an accident waiting to happen. I can only assume this was not a professional roofing contractor because all roofers at least use real ladders that comply with OSHA regulations and will get you up and down the roof no problem. If this really what the title says, that this was a "Roof Repair Fail" then hopefully this guy reconsidered doing the repair and went

These folks aren't parkour experts!

Roof Safety

The important part of getting on a roof is being safe and secure. An average of six roofers die each month in America from falling off a roof. Even inspecting a roof can being dangerous, so it’s important that a roofing contractor equips their specialists with the right equipment.

Let’s start with getting on the roof, a roofer should have a ladder with him or her that is approved by local codes and OSHA regulations. Using a damaged or unbalanced ladder is very dangerous and is not recommended, buy a new ladder over using a bent ladder anytime. The ladder should be placed on solid, level ground, unbalanced ground is just as dangerous as an unbalanced ladder. The ladder should be set on solid backing.

Being on the roof provides a new measure of peril for a roofer. Normal tennis shoes can only get a person so far on a roof, when a roof slope gets steep, walking up the slope safely means wearing soft-soled boots made for walking up roofs. In this situation, we recommend and use Cougar Paws for the safety of our specialists. Sometimes the traction that roofing boots provide won’t help against really steep roof slopes, that’s where safety harnesses come into play. By securing a harness to the top of the roof, a roofer is able to move around any slope safely.

Other measures include making sure the ladder is clean and free of slip hazards, not placing the ladder near electrical boxes or wires, and climbing one rung at a time up or down. If you meet a contractor who doesn't practice these safety measures, call us at 1-844-5RESTORE because we do.

You Don't Have To Take Our Word For It

To whom it may concern,
I am writing on behalf of Rosser Catastrophe Services in recommendation of their services in home restoration. When hail hit the neighborhood in early 2013, RCS came in and performed exceptional work for several homes in the neighborhood. They also repaired the roof on the gatehouse at the main entrance.
The recent storms brought many “contractors” to our area, some which are licensed and insured, however RCS has been by far the most professional and timely. Their interaction with us from their first contact has been friendly and homeowner focused. RCS is also backed by the Better Business Bureau and is locally rooted here in Georgia.
The only thing as impressive as their work is how they leave a home after they’re finished with it. Construction often leaves much cleanup work, but in every house in the neighborhood they worked on, the property is spotless after they leave.
The recent storms also brought to light an issue that most homeowners are unaware of, Atlas Chalet shingles, a shingle that has been discontinued but not before being installed on countless homes. They informed our homeowners that if the roof has sustained the appropriate amount of damage, many insurance companies would pay for a new roof because Atlas Chalet is no longer being made nor is the Atlas Company honoring its warranty.
As President of the Homeowner’s Association for Richmond Place, I highly recommend Rosser Catastrophe Services for anyone’s home restoration needs. Several homes in the neighborhood are a visible testimony of their work. Resident David Linder has an excellent video testimony that can be found on the RCS website at www.8445restore.com where you can find out more about RCS.
Best Regards,
Sean White

The Benefits of Remodeling

The "Catastrophe" in Rosser Catastrophe Services can be a little misleading because we're not just in the business home restoration after a natural disaster; we're also here to help you remodel your home. There are several reasons to want to improve your home.

It doesn't always take a softball-sized hail storm to ruin your house; sometimes defects or the age of the house over time will take its toll on the home and eventually cause problems. The best thing to do is upgrade your home, give it new flooring and walls, before the old catches up to giving need for restoration work.

By having a fresh new house to come home to, you can have a new sense of pride and self-esteem. You can tell a lot about a person by looking at their home. It makes a great impression on guests to walk in and be blown away by the design of your abode. If you don't have guests, you can still feel proud looking around and saying "This is my house!"

HGTV has several shows about real estate flippers, people who buy broken down homes cheap, restore them, and sell them for a price significantly higher than what they paid for the house and restoration combined. Similarly, it's a trend for home owners intending to sell their homes to do the same thing, fixing up the house 2-3 years before selling it, they have discovered it greatly raises the value of the home selling new and improved as opposed to leaving it broken down for the next home owner to fix. Taking the time to remodel your home allows you to enjoy the improvements you've made to the house in your last days living there.

If you want to make a new home out of your old house, trust us to remodel your home and remake it into a dream home. Call us at 1-844-5RESTORE, or visit us on the web at www.8445restore.com.
